Bjornson Deserves Failing Grade on Seven Oaks Land Deal
This just in from The Blue Maple Leaf
The following article e-mailed to us by Jeff Niederhoffer. Jeff is a Winnipeg lawyer and political activist. Here is what he had to say:
Since 2002, the Seven Oaks School Division in Manitoba has arguably been breaking the law. As has been reported, the School Division spent $2 million of taxpayers’ money to develop vacant land into 70 residential lots, which the school division then sold for $2.7 million.

Mr. Snyder: Why was O’Leary at the River Ridge public meeting? Seven Oaks is building a replacement for WK Collegiate in the Swinford Park development on the other side of Main Street. What involvement does SOSD have with River Ridge?

No, Seven Oaks is building WK Collegiate as part of the River Ridge Development. I believe their plans were originally to develop some (or all) of the land in the River Ridge Development the same way they did in the Swinford Development. This is speculation on my part as I have no facts to back that up. It now appears that the River Ridge Development is being done by at least three companies. Seven Oaks is attempting to save some money on infrastructure (roads, etc.) by doing the development at the same time and having the developer(s) pay for most of the infrastructure. One of the things that was said at the meeting is that it would cost about $2 million dollars more for Seven Oaks if the development does not proceed. I believe part of Bjornson’s inquiry should include Seven Oak’s involvement in the River Ridge Development. I guess we will see this week???
And please call me Robert. Mr. Snyder is so formal…
Robert
